William Wintersdorf's Obituary
William "Willie" Wintersdorf, Jr, 93 years young, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, December 2, 2020. Willie was born in Yalaha, Florida on April 20, 1927 to William and Katherine Wintersdorf. Willie was a lifelong Lake County resident. He was a graduate of Leesburg High School. Willie graduated Florida State University with a degree in Political Science and attended University of Florida Law. Willie also served his Country proudly in the United States Army where he enlisted in 1945. Willie was employed as the general manager of a fresh citrus packing plant. He was active in many civic and citrus organizations, a member of Lake Region Packing Association for 42 years, served 2 terms on the Tavares City Council and was on the Board of Directors of First Family Federal/Colonial Bank. He was a devout Catholic and was a member of St. Mary of the Lakes Church. He enjoyed playing golf and fishing. Willie was an avid Gator fan and especially loved Gator softball. Willie is predeceased by his beloved wife, Hazel, of 58 years and 2 sisters; Loretta Riordan and Tina Powell. He is survived by his children: Mary Lynn (Corky) Smith, Bill (Terri) Wintersdorf and Jason Wintersdorf. Sisters: Claire (Carl) Honaker, Hilda (Gordon) DeKrey, Mary Alice Barrett and Sylvia Nelson. Six grandchildren: Eric (Lindsey) Cassell, Joshua (Alisha) Wintersdorf, Sarah Wintersdorf, Danielle (Shane) Perry, Jessica Wintersdorf and Matthew Wintersdorf. Nine great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. Willie's place of rest will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetary, Leesburg, Florida
