Maria S. Reyes' Obituary
Maria S. Reyes, 91, Leesburg, Florida passed away on January 22, 2018 at her residence
in Leesburg, Florida surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Reyes was born on November
12, 1926 in Ponce, Puerto Rico to her parents Ramon Santiago and Catalina Hernandez
Santiago. She was a former High School English Teacher for 30 years. She obtained a
Master’s Degree in higher education from New York University and retired as a Director of
the Student Loan Office for the University of Puerto Rico. She and her husband Pedro
moved to Leesburg 26 years ago from Caguas, Puerto Rico. She was a member of St.
Paul Catholic Church, Leesburg, Florida. She is survived by her loving husband of 70
years: Pedro Reyes of Leesburg, FL; two daughters: Maggie Allen and her husband Terry
of Dunnellon, FL and Ivette Alvarado and her husband Dr. Manuel Alvarado of Leesburg,
FL; three grandchildren: Maria de los Angeles, Maria del Mar and Manuel Enrique and one
great-grandson: Julian Alvarado. A Mass of Resurrection will be held on Saturday,
February 3, 2018 at 7:00PM at St. Paul Catholic Church 1330 Sunshine Ave. Leesburg,
FL 34748. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to The Lazarus
Free Medical Clinic in Wildwood, FL. Online condolences may be shared by visiting
