Mabel Ann Safford's Obituary
Mabel Ann Safford, 92, Fruitland Park, FL. went to be with the Lord on August 1, 2017 at
Carriage House of Heidi’s Haven, Fruitland Park, FL. Mrs. Safford was born on August 21,
1924 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina to her parents Samuel Harrell and Beulah (Starling)
Harrell. She was a devoted homemaker to her loving family. Mrs. Safford and her loving
husband Ted moved to Florida in 1978 from Macon, GA. She was a member of Emmanuel
Baptist Church of Leesburg, FL. She loved to be surrounded by her loving family and
enjoyed singing and dancing. She is survived by her loving husband of 73 years: Ted
Safford of Fruitland Park, FL; two sons: James (Kathy) Safford of Okahumpka, FL and
Robert G. (Jackie) Safford of Deltona, FL; a daughter: Carol A. (John) Schmelz of Ocala,
FL; six grandchildren: Kristy Lewis, Laurie Safford, Jim Safford, Leslie Safford, Lauren
Schmelz and Nathan Schmelz; five great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and
nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters. Funeral Services
will be held on Friday, August 4, 2017 at 1:00PM at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Leesburg,
FL. with burial to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Leesburg, FL. A visitation will be
held on Thursday, August 3, 2017 from 5:00PM till 7:00PM at Page-Theus Funeral Home,
Leesburg, FL. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to
Compassionate Care Hospice of Lake and Sumter, Inc. at 214 East Washington Street,
Minneola, FL 34715 or Alzheimers Association at www.alz.org in her loving memory.
