Leon Butterfoss' Obituary
Leon Frank Butterfoss, 92, was born on May 16, 1922 in Scranton, PA to his parents Frank and Leola Butterfoss. He went to be with the Lord on January 28, 2015 in Leesburg, FL, surrounded by his loving family. Leon and his wife Winifred moved to Leesburg, FL in 1988 from Yardley, PA. He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Leesburg, FL., and was a respected volunteer at the Morrison’s Methodist Church Opportunity Shop. He was a Communications Yeoman for the United States Navy for five years during World War II. During this time Leon traveled to Algeria North Africa and Naples Italy. In 2012 he traveled to Washington, D.C. with the Honor Flight program for WWII veterans. After the war, he worked for Bell Telephone Co. in New Jersey for 38 years and retired in 1984. Leon enjoyed sailing, dancing, and had a passion for airplanes. In his retired years, he and his wife traveled extensively and enjoyed several large sail boat charters in the Caribbean and Hawaii. Leon was a happy, outgoing and generous man who will be deeply missed by many. He is predeceased by the love of his life of 62 years: Winifred Butterfoss, who passed in 2008. He is survived by his Son: Scott (Agrita) Butterfoss, of Fairbanks, AK; Daughter Cynthia Horner, of Orlando, FL; Granddaughters: Ashley Brooke Horner, of Tampa, FL and Kimberley Lynn Horner, of Orlando, FL; and Great-Granddaughter: Leia Aurora Gamble, of Orlando, FL. A memorial service will be held on February 7, 2015 at 12:00PM at Lake Port Square, in the Town Hall, located at 600 Lake Port Blvd. Leesburg, FL 34748. Services have been entrusted to Page-Theus Funeral Home, Leesburg, FL.
