Catherine Norfleet's Obituary
Catherine Silvia Norfleet age 85 passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2016 in Gainesville, Virginia. Catherine was born in Leesburg, Florida and grew up in the Lady Lake area, moving to Virginia nearly five years ago from Ocala, Florida. She graduated from Florida State University in 1952 with a bachelor’s degree in Home Economics. Catherine later earned her teaching license and went on to teach at Davie Elementary School in Davie, Florida for over 30 years. Those close to Catherine will fondly remember her love of children and her kind and gentle manner. She was a beautiful seamstress and an excellent cook. She especially enjoyed making everyone’s favorite pies. Most of all she was the ultimate Florida State Fan! She relished going to F.S.U. football games through the years with her late husband of 50 years, William Thomas Norfleet whom she met while they were students at the university. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter Cheryl Lynn Norfleet Hussar.
Survivors include her daughter – Ann Norfleet Bagg of Gainesville, VA; her sister – Virginia Cullison, of Ocala; 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service is planned for 11:00 AM – Friday, March 25, 2016 at the Page-Theus Funeral Home in downtown Leesburg, Florida. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. The family asks that in lieu of floral tributes memorial contributions be made in Catherine’s memory to the Old Davie School Historical Museum – 6650 Griffin Road, Davie Florida 33314.
