Suzanna S Phen
July 25, 1934 - April 25, 2019
Suzanna, Shou Nan Phen, aged 85, completed her work here on Earth and was called home peacefully to the Lord on Thursday, April 25th, 2019. She was surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on July 25th, 1934 and immigrated twice, first to Pakistan and then to the United States in the 1980s. Words cannot begin to describe the amazing woman she was in life. With limited command of the English language, she successfully navigated and adapted to American life. “Adapted” is an understatement. Actually, she thrived. She was an independent, strong, fierce and caring individual who positively touched and greatly impacted the lives of all who knew her. In other words, she was a complete badass. As a Catholic, she exemplified the good taught in the bible. Helping others in a time of need, attending mass on Sundays, and being compassionate toward others. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, sewing, knitting, and spending time with her family. She loved sharing spectacular stories of her past adventures and spent her time looking after her grandchildren whom she loved unconditionally. The most important and recognizable trait she had was her curiosity. She loved learning about the world and all it had to offer. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Tay Hai Phen and they are back together again. She is survived by her five children along with their spouses: Stephen (Elizabeth), Lourdes, Alban (Vai Hua), Sandra (Khai) and David (Judy); and ten grandchildren.
