Walter Joseph Schwegman age 83 passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2016 in Leesburg, Florida. Walter moved to the Leesburg area in 1992 from his birthplace of Hamilton, Ohio. He spent over 25 years with Pillsbury where he served as a Quality Control Manager. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War, and during the 1950’s he played baseball professionally on a Cincinnati farm team. Walt was known as a person who made friends easily and always had a great story to tell. He loved life and embraced each of his days with a smile. He loved gardening and the landscape at his home was always meticulously maintained, and he was an avid sports fan. Walt had many passions through the years but his biggest was being a husband and father. He was predeceased by his wife of 61 years Joan in September 2015. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his 2 sons - Craig (Monica) Schwegman, of Waterford, PA and Gregory (Regina) Schwegman, of Hamilton, OH; brothers – Omar, Ralph, and Dick Schwegman all of Oxford, Ohio; sisters – Rita Cox of Hamilton, Ohio; Mary Thomas of Bellbrook, Ohio; Ruth Smith and Alice Krauth both of Oxford, Ohio. many nieces and nephews; Grandchildren: Craig and Sarah Schwegman; and Lifelong Friends: Fred and Shirley Blake, of The Villages, FL.; Hazel Holden, Leesburg, FL and Bill Leugers, Fruitland Park, FL
